The Tank (Meghan Finn, Inventive Director; Johnny G. Lloyd, Director of Inventive Growth; Molly FitzMaurice, Managing Producer) presents, in a co-production with Amanda + James, The Lydian Gale Parr, composed by Alaina Ferris with a libretto by Karinne Keithley Syers, route by Meghan Finn, and choreography by Katy Pyle. Performances run April 5-20, and can be carried out at Goal Margin Theater in Brooklyn, NY.

The Lydian Gale Parr is a surreal and poetic chamber oratorio with ballet: a toddler emissary despatched from a metropolis beneath siege to ship a letter to the attacking normal. However the emissary can’t discover him; at each place of arrival, the final has simply left. Touring by area and time, the emissary begins to shapeshift, to manifest freely: as boy, as lady, as man, as lady, because the Lydian Gale Parr, who journeys from historical cities to cargo ships on an infinite errand to ask for an finish to violence. They slip out and in of disparate webs of belonging but maintain quick to their quest: a ghost youngster of conflict.

The Lydian Gale Parr options set and costume design by Patricia Marjorie, lighting design by Yang Yu, spatial instrument and sound design by Eamon Goodman, and projection design by David Pym. Simone Allen is the affiliate music director, Tristan O’Shea is the affiliate sound designer, Nicolas Browne is the assistant director, Michael Genese is the music copyist, and Sam Kaseta is the music assistant. Curtis Howard is the technical director, Mika Kauffman is the Stage Supervisor, and Alejandra Venancio is the Tank manufacturing Fellow.

This piece was commissioned by Charles & Joan Gross Basis with help from The NYC Ladies’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre by the Metropolis of New York Mayor’s Workplace of Media and Leisure in affiliation with The New York Basis for the Arts.

This work was developed, partially, beneath the auspices of an Artist Residency on the Motion Lab within the Milstein Middle of Barnard Faculty, with extra help from New Dramatists and The Hermitage Artist Retreat.
