Nominations are made by the Bessie Awards Choice Committee, an impartial committee of dance trade professionals. With the change within the ceremony’s location this 12 months, a brand new nominating timeframe was established. Performances introduced between June 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, have been eligible for consideration. Award classes embrace Excellent Choreographer/Creator, Excellent Performer, Excellent Revival, Excellent Sound Design or Music Composition, Excellent Visible Design, and Excellent Breakout Choreographer. Extra awards are given for Lifetime Achievement, Service to the Area of Dance, and a particular Juried Award in partnership with NYS DanceForce.

“Below the auspices of Lincoln Middle’s Summer season for the Metropolis, The Bessies are thrilled to rejoice this 12 months’s artists with the dance group at our first free ceremony in many years,” mentioned Bessies Government Director Heather Robles.
