Love Is Blind is a show that manages to capture many successful reality TV elements, but there are a number of things that LIB producers could change. Although the first four seasons of Love Is Blind on Netflix have been a major success, there are also noticeable flaws in numerous aspects of the show. Other considerations can be kept in mind for future seasons.
When Love Is Blind season 1 first aired, it proved to be a major success that quickly led to a large fan following. This caused Netflix to quickly roll out three more seasons. Season 5 will air in the fall. Meanwhile, it’s rumored that a number of other installments have already been put into production, or even begun filming. However, more content isn’t always a good thing. Some Love Is Blind seasons highlight the areas where the show can improve.
10 Love Is Blind Should Cast Older Participants
It could be argued that Love Is Blind casts people who are too young to feel pressured to marry. Many Love Is Blind cast members are in their late twenties to early thirties. This can result in reality stars who are still immature in terms of their romantic goals. Love Is Blind season 4 couple Brett Brown and Tiffany Pennywell proved to be one of the best duos of all time, as they were both approaching forty, and came across as more grounded.
9 Love Is Blind Needs To Show More Connection Building
Another area where future Love Is Blind seasons, including LIB season 5, can improve upon is the editing. Sometimes, not enough connection building is shown during the initial pod stage of the show. This makes it hard to understand the later connections between couples. Love triangles also lack sufficient context. Perhaps an extra few episodes could be added to future Love Is Blind installments to spend more time focused on the pod process.
8 Love Is Blind Should Air All Engagements
While each Love Is Blind season features a number of proposals, it was revealed that some couples who are engaged don’t have their engagements shown. Also, not all engaged pairs are invited to the vacation, and to participate in the show past the pod stage. Love Is Blind season 4 recently cut two engagements, while past seasons also edited out some couples. This was probably a mistake, as it might be preferable to see all engagements.
7 Love Is Blind Should Feature Regular People
One element that made Love Is Blind season 1 so popular is that it cast regular people who didn’t seem to be seeking social media fame. This led to the cast coming across as relatable. It also seemed like people were on the show to search for love, rather than for ulterior motives. However, later cast members like Shake Chatterjee or Micah Lussier seem more interested in infamy and clout chasing.
6 Love Is Blind Producers Shouldn’t Force Connections
Love Is Blind season 4 villain Irina Solomonova revealed that she wanted to break up with her fiance Zack Goytowski as soon as she saw him. However, Irina was pressured by production to go to Mexico with him. This led to Irina becoming very awkward, and refusing to speak to Zack. It was clear Irina did not want to be with Zack, which just led to them both feeling very uncomfortable. Production should not try to force Love Is Blind connections for screen time and plot lines.
5 Love Is Blind Should Fire Nick and Vanessa
One issue that Love Is Blind producers should address is the fact that Nick and Vanessa Lachey are not hitting the target as hosts. Vanessa in particular receives backlash, as Nick had a better reception when he hosted Perfect Match solo. Therefore, it’s worth considering that Nick and Vanessa exit Love Is Blind, given how much viewers seem to dislike them as hosts. This would mean replacing them for reunion specials as well.
4 Love Is Blind Should Stop Having Hosts
Since Nick and Vanessa don’t appear in very much Love Is Blind content except for the reunion, it would be very easy for the show to have no hosts. Nick and Vanessa only popped up during scenes to offer trite advice or commentary. Love Is Blind would easily be able to fire both of them, and run the show without searching for replacement hosts. This would likely be a popular choice that the Netflix producers could make moving forward.
3 Love Is Blind Should Be Fair At The Reunion
The Love Is Blind season 4 reunion wasn’t fair when it came to Paul Peden. He was called out a lot by Vanessa, though his ex Micah wasn’t. The hosts appear to go after some cast members, while giving others grace. Vanessa even issued an apology to Paul after the Love Is Blind season 5 reunion. At such events, villains and heroes should be questioned in equal measure.
2 Love Is Blind Should Ask Hard Questions
The Love Is Blind season 4 reunion was a low point for the show for several seasons. For one, Vanessa didn’t treat cast members equally She called out Paul a lot, and didn’t allow him to defend himself. However, she was very kind to season villain Jackie Bonds. Jackie didn’t even have to attend the reunion in person, or own up to her bad behavior. This infuriated people who wanted to see Jackie held accountable for how she behaved
1 Love Is Blind Can Never Have A Live Reunion
Lastly, it is very important that the Love Is Blind franchise avoids live reunions. Love Is Blind tried to host the second-ever live streaming event on Netflix for LIB season 4. This ended in disaster, when the show was delayed for quite some time. Therefore, it’s wise that Love Is Blind doesn’t try to host a live reunion again in the future. The Love Is Blind season 5 reunion should be prerecorded like usual, to avoid delays.
